Water Main Leak Found in Bedford; Boil Water Advisory Continues
Officials say they've now found the source of the water main leak that's caused major problems in the Bedford Consolidated Water District that covers Bedford, Bedford Hills and Katonah. The break was located late Monday night near the intersection of Route 117 and Harris Road in Katonah and repaired. More than 21-hundred customers were affected by the problem.
But, due to continued low pressure in the system there remains a potential for contamination, so the Westchester County Health department says a Boil Water Advisory will remain in effect. Residents are advised to continue boiling their tap water for drinking and/or cooking use at least until Wednesday. Testing will take place Wednesday afternoon and authorities are expected to determine at that time whether the water is safe to use from the tap.
