Westchester County Wastewater Treatment Plant

Stormwater Runoff Washes Thousands of Plastic Disks onto Sound Shore Beaches

First it was sewage leaks in Mount Kisco due to heavy rains, now officials are dealing with thousands of small white plastic disks that have spilled out into the Long Island Sound due to stormwater runoff.

The Westchester County Department of Environmental Facilities is hiring a contractor to retrieve as many of the white plastic disks as possible which washed out from the Westchester County Wastewater Treatment Plant in Mamaroneck. The disks, they say, washed up on the shore from Rye to New Rochelle.
