Fallen Westchester Soldier Arrives Home

The body of 23 year old Army Specialist David Fahey Jr.  returned to Westchester today.

Fahey's remains were escorted in a white hearse by an elaborate motorcade consisting of local police that traveled from Dover Air Force Base in Delaware all the way to Yorktown Funeral Home in Shrub Oak. The escort service consisted of police officers from Yorktown, New Castle, Mount Kisco, Yonkers Connecticut, as well as Westchester County Police. In addition, the motorcade included ambulances, police vehicles and fire trucks. Fahey's parents also traveled with his remains.

His flag-draped casket was carried into the funeral home by six police officers who were part of the entourage. 

Fahey was killed in Afghanistan February 28 by an improvised explosive device. He was born in Norwalk and was raised by adoptive parents in Yorktown.

He was posthumously promoted to Army Specialist and awarded the Bronze Star for Service, Purple Heart and the Combat Action Badge.

A wake is planned tomorrow between 2 and 4 p.m. and 7 and 9 p.m. at the Yorktown Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick's Church in Yorktown.

He will be buried with full military honors at Rose Hill Memorial Park, 101 Mill Street, Putnam Valley,NY.
