Owner of Bedford Hills Therapy Company Pleads Guilty to Grand Larceny
A Westport,CT woman, who owned and operated Care Point Services Inc. in Bedford Hills, has pled guilty to stealing more than $50,000 from the Westchester County Health Department by fraudulently billing the County for occupational and physical therapy services performed by unlicensed therapists.
38 year old Lisa Bruno also intentionally submitted duplicate bills for OT and PT therapy services and received $852,425 in public funds from the Westchester County Health Department to which she was not entitled.
As a result of her guilty plea,Bruno agreed to pay restitution of up to $852,000. $357,000 of that must be paid at sentencing and the remainder will be paid through the Department of Probation.
Bruno faces 5-15 years in State Prison when sentenced on June 23.
Owner of Bedford Hills Rehab Services Company Indicted
Westchester District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced today that 37 year old Lisa Bruno of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida was arraigned on a four count indictment charging her with 2nd Degree Grand Larceny, 3rd Degree Grand Larceny, Unlicensed Practice of a Profession and 1st Degree Scheme to Defraud.
Bruno owned Care Point Services Incorporated located at 182 Route 117 in Bedford Hills, a business that provided physical and occupational therapy to Westchester County.
She's charged with stealing more than $852,000 from the Westchester County Department of Health between July 2005 and April 2009 for providing services using unlicensed therapists.
Officials allege she also intentionally submitted duplicate bills for occupational and physical therapy services, which netted her $852,425 in public funds from the Westchester County Health which she was not entitled to.
She is being held on $100,000 bail, and is due back in court January 20.
