Pair Killed in Tarrytown After Tumbling Into Manhole

A freak accident claimed the lives of two men in Tarrytown on Sunday.

The incident happened around 6:35 as officials were investigating a sewage backup. According to Police, Tarrytown DPW worker ,48 year old Anthony Ruggiero, began to descend into a manhole located behind Consolidated Engine Fire House in Tarrytown, at 177 Shelton Avenue and fell backwards, possibly due to hazardous fumes in the sewer.
