Democrats on the Westchester county Board of Legislators have selected Legislator Peter Harckham (D-Katonah) to serve as the new majority leader and head of the Democratic Caucus. Harckham will replace Legislator Thomas Abinanti (D-Greenburgh) who is stepping down to run for State Assembly in the 92nd District.

Said Harckham of his new role, "I am honored to be selected as Majority Leader. With the economic challenges facing our residents and our County, forging consensus on how we reduce the size and cost of government is critical. I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle as well as the
