Fallen Westchester Soldier Laid to Rest
Funeral services were held this morning for 23 year old Army Specialist David Fahey Jr. at St. Patrick's Church in Yorktown.
Hundreds of people were in attendance including local veterans, police, EMS and fire officials to say farewell to the fallen local hero.
Fahey was killed in Afghanistan February 28 by an improvised explosive device. He was born in Norwalk and raised by his adoptive parents in Yorktown Heights.
Transformer Fire Knocks Out Service to Yorktown and Parts of Northern Westchester and Putnam
A transformer fire, possibly ignited by lightning has left hundreds of NYSEG customers in the dark in Yorktown Heights, Katonah, Amawalk, Putnam Valley, Mahopac and Brewster.
A good portion of Route 202 in Yorktown is affected.
The Yorktown School District is operating on a two hour delay as a result of the outages.
There's been no comment, at this point from NYSEG as to when power might be restored.
2 Arrested for Attacking Trooper on Taconic State Parkway
A routine traffic stop turned violent after police say a man pulled over for tailgating, and his girlfriend, suddently began attacking the State Trooper who was ticketing them.
Shrub Oak Soldier Laid to Rest
Funeral services were held Thursday for the teenage soldier from Shrub Oak who took her own life by jumping from the Tappan Zee Bridge last week. Dozens of famiy and friends gathered at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church where 19 year old Elizabeth Lynch- Gonzalez was remembered with full military honors. Many of those on hand were friends of hers from Lakeland High School where she had recently graduated. In the past few months, Lynch-Gonzalez completed boot camp and was about to deploy as an Army Private to Iraq.
