A flood watch and a high wind warning has been posted in Westchester County.

The flood watch is in effect through Saturday morning and the high wind warning's up from 11 a.m. this morning until 11 p.m. tonight. 

Total rainfall of between 2-2.5" is possible from this morning into early evening, with some passing thunderstorms expected.

Forecasters say the heavy rainfall coupled with snow melting could result in significant flooding in urban areas, roadways and underpasses as well as small streams.

Utility companies are busy today trying to restore power to the hundreds of customers left in the dark due to the Boxing Day blizzard of 2010. NYSEG is reporting it has restored power to more than 9,000 customers in Northern Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess Counties. About 500 remain without electricity, primarily in the towns of Lewisboro,Pound Ridge, Putnam Valley and Somers.

The utility says most customers will have power restored today, but some customers may not have power restored until early Wednesday.

The Boxing Day Blizzard of 2010 has come and gone, but it left Westchester reeling and still digging out. The monster of a snowstorm not only dumped upwards of 19" of snow in some parts of Westchester County but residents have had to deal with strong gusty winds and blowing snow which made cleanup a nightmare. 

The monster storm that slammed into Westchester County has left many areas with between 12 and 18" of snow and thousands of power customers in the dark.

As of 9 a.m. Con Edison is reporting more than 2,000 customers are without power. 

The strong gusty winds from tonight's blizzard are resulting in hundreds of power outages across Westchester.

Wind gusts of between 36 and 44 miles per hour are reported by the National Weather Service.

As a result, Con Edison is reporting nearly 750 customers are without power as of 11:15 p.m.

The outages are mostly concentrated in New Rochelle, Mount Vernon, Mamaroneck,Peekskill and Yorktown.  Con Edison is estimating that the outages will be restored by 5 a.m.

Driving rains and strong gusty winds have k-o'd power to thousands of customers this afternoon. Wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour took down trees and power lines leaving utility companies scrambling to restore power to thousands. As of 3 p.m. Con edison is reporting more than 7,000 customers are in the dark. A huge chunk of that, more than 1,000 are in Croton-on-Hudson.

A storm is bringing heavy rain and strong, gusty winds to Westchester today, knocking out power to thusands of customers. Forecasters say there will be rain today, heavy at times, with winds gusting up to 55 miles per hour, resulting in downed trees and power lines.

Rain is expected to continue through the afternoon  with 2-3 inches predicted. That could result in mild to moderate stream and river flooding.
