New Rochelle Woman Brutally Murdered With Machete, Suspect in Custody

Police in New Rochelle are investigating a stabbing Friday night that left a 29 year old woman dead.

Officials say Lisa Stabler was viciously attacked with a machete while she was visting with a male friend at an apartment at 309 North Avenue, apartment 12. 

Cops arrived to find the woman lying on a bed, unresponsive with multiple wounds to her head torso and hands. She was prounced dead shortlly afterward at Sound Shore Medical Center. 

Mount Vernon Man Pleads Guilty to Double Murder

A Mount Vernon man is facing 40 years to life behind bars after pleading guilty today to two counts of Second Degree Murder.

Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore says 52 year old Darrell Evans of 8 Ellwood Avenue, Mount Vernon, admitted shooting his daughter and her babysitter following a dispute with his wife.

Prosecutors say  Evans was on the phone arguing with his common law  wife the night of  January 7, 2010, when he threatened to kill both the babysitter, 42 year old Lorna Williams and his 9 year old daughter, Ayana Evans. The wife, Joan Whitfield notified authorities, who arrived at the home to find the two shot. Williams died from a single gunshot wound to the head, and Ayana Evans gravely injured with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. Evans was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Sentencing is set for March 22.

Police Talk to Several Persons of Interest in Mamaroneck Murder

Village of Mamaroneck Police announced today that they have identified several "persons of interest" in the murder of 49 year old Jennifer Katz. Katz's body was found at her home at 615 Baldwin Place around 11 p.m. Thursday night. 

No charges have yet been filed and the cause of death has not yet been released by police.

Village of Mamaroneck Police say the victim knew her attacker and that it was not a random act of violence.

Katz is a divorced mother of two. Her two children were not home at the time but with their father out of state. 

Woman Murdered in Village of Mamaroneck Identified

Police Car LightsPolice in the Village of Mamaroneck are investigating the apparent murder of a woman whose body was found last night in at a residence in the village. 

Cops say the victim, identified as 49 year old Jennifer Katz was found dead at a  home on Baldwin Place at 11 p.m. Thursday.  Further investigation revealed she had been the victim of a homicide.

Autopsy in Yorktown Murder Rules Out Suicide

The Westchester County Medical Examiner's Office has completed an autopsy on the body of 43 year old Piotre Seweryn. Yorktown Police Lieutenant Kevin Soravilla says the M.E.'s report has ruled out suicide as a causeof death.

Seweryn's wife Krystyna  made the gruesome discovery in the basement of their home at 3210 Poplar Street around 1 p.m. Wednesday. Police say whoever shot Seweryn in the head likely targeted him and that it was not a random act.

Soravilla added,"It was not a home invasion. Nothing was disturbed and nothing was stolen from the home."

Man Found Murdered in Yorktown

Officials say they were called to a private home at 3210 Poplar Street around 1 p.m.Wednesday afternoon after a family member made the gruesome discovery in the basement of the house.

Cops have identified the victim as 43 year old Piotr Seweryn, who was dead of an apparent gunshot wound.

Another Homicide in Yonkers

The street violence continues in the city of Yonkers. Police say a young man was found shot to death around 3 a.m. Sunday July 25. The victim has been identified as 22 year old Stephen Calhoun of 22 Arthur Street. Cops say he had been shot three times and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials recovered three spent shell casings from two different weapons.
