Alleged Drunk Driver Kills Cortlandt Manor Man in Tampa

Doug KozarFamily and friends are mourning the death of 23 year old Doug Kozar of Cortlandt Manor after he and a female co-worker were killed early Saturday morning, when they were struck and killed by a prominent Tampa dentist who police say was driving drunk.

Kozar and 24 year old Kate Kohlier had both left their jobs at the Marriott Waterside Hotel in Tampa, Florida and were walking to their car across the Harbor Island Bridge around 1:45 a.m. Saturday when they were struck by a black Cadillac driven by 34 year old Dr. Matthew Moye.

Both  Kozar and Kohlier were  pronounced dead at the scene. A third person, who worked with the two, suffered a leg injury in the crash and is expected to survive.

Witnesses told police the vehicle was driving at an extremely high rate of speed when it jumped a curb on the bridge, careened out of control and traveled for some 75 feet, striking the three, before coming to a stop.

Yonkers Man Among 9 People Arrested in Cell Phone Cloning Scheme

Federal officials announced today that 9 people, including a Yonkers man, have been arrested in connection with a multi-million dollar cell phone cloning scheme that took place at Sprint stores in the Bronx, New Jersey and Florida.

Under arrest are Johnny Santana of Yonkers, Luis Abad, Mathews Angel, Lesly Esquea, Francis Lopez, Luis Orriols, Pedro Rodriguez and Jacklin "Jeff Volny" Volny. The 9 are expected to be arraigned today at the Federal Courthouse in White Plains. A ninth defendant, Princetta Dorisma remains at large.

A routine traffic stop turned violent after police say a man pulled over for tailgating, and his girlfriend, suddently began attacking the State Trooper who was ticketing them.

Federal Officials: Millionaire's Wife and Three Others Plotted His Murder at Westchester Hotel

Ben Novack, Jr.A woman, her brother and two others were indicted today  in an alleged conspiracy to murder a millionaire convention organizer at the Rye Town Hilton last year. 53 year old Ben Novack Junior was found bludgeoned to death on July 12, 2009 in his hotel room where he had been staying during an Amway Convention. 

U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara says 53 year old Narcy Novack, her brother, and two others were behind the brutal slaying.  Bharara says Narcy Novack opened the door for the killers who beat and slashed her husband and then gave them a pillow to hold over his face as he was being killed.

Narcy Novack was arrested in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She is being held without bail and is expected to be extradicted to New York.   Her brother, Cristobal Veliz and two other men, Dennis Ramirez and Joel Gonzalez were also named in the indictment which charges them with Conspiracy to Commit Interstate Domestic Violence and Stalking, which carries a sentence of up to life in prison.

Bharara also says federal officals plan to file a civil forfeiture complaint seeking to forfeit all property in the Ben Novack estate and proceeds from his life insurance policy. The properties, he says, include: several homes in Florida, several bank accounts and a number of  vintage boats and automobiles.
