Mount Kisco Man Arrested for DWI,Resisting Arrest

Cops say Joseph A. Raguso was stopped for a vehicle and traffic violation on I684 in the Town of Lewisboro and then arrested after he was found to be intoxicated.

Officials allege Raguso became combative while being placed into custody for the DWI and allegedly attempted to prevent the Trooper from placing him in handcuffs by pushing and struggling with the Trooper. He was then charged with Resisting Arrest.

Raguso was brought back to State Police Barracks in Somers where police say he refuesed a chemical test to determine his blood alcohol level. He was arraigned and remanded to the Westchester County Jail without bail. He's due back in Town of Lewisboro Court on Monday.

Maximum Sentence for Garrison Man in Vehicular Homicide in Cortlandt

A Garrison man has been sentenced to 2 1/3 to 7 years in state prison after he was convicted of Vehicular Homicide, Criminally Negligent Homicide, Assault,Reckless Driving and DWI.

Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore says 26 year old George Kiaha of Route 9 Garrison received the sentence stemming from an incident September 4, 2009  on Route 9 in the Town of Cortlandt.

Kiaha was driving southbound on Route 9 near Susan Lane and attempted to pass two vehicles in front of him by crossing into the oncoming lane of traffic. He then struck a vehicle heading northbound head-on injuring all six occupants. One of the injured, 55 year old Ralph Wood later died of internal injuries. A blood test determined Kiaha had a blood alcohol level of .11, which is above the legal limit of .08.

Weather Related Accidents Lead Cops to Drunk Drivers

Turns out the snow was good for something after all!

State troopers say the snowy weather over the past couple of days was instrumental in helping them make a couple of DWI arrests in Westchester.

State Police in Somers say the snow was the likely cause of two motor vehicle incidents. One, occurred around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday night when cops found a car off the road in a snow bank on State Route 100 in the Town of Somers. The driver, police say, 65 year old Otto Leitner of Somers, was arrested after they determined he had a blood alcohol level of .18%.

Montrose Man Arrested for Felony DWI, Driving Without Interlock Device

Peekskill Police say a Montrose man has been arrested and charged with felony DWIImage after they responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident around 2 a.m. Sunday at 20 Welcher Avenue in the city.

Officials say upon investigation they determined that 22 year old Ryan Martin of Montrose had rear ended a car that had been stopped. Martin was arrested and charged with felony DWI as well as using a motor vehicle without an interlock device.

Cortlandt Man, Asleep At the Wheel, Charged With DWI

Police say a Cortlandt man is under arrest, charged with DWI after they found him asleep in his car early Sunday.

Cops say they discovered 40 year old Peter Connor asleep at the wheel of his car on route 6 and Lexington Avenue in Cortlandt.  A breathalyzer test indicated he had a blood alcohol level of ..12%. He was charged with DWI and is due back in Town of Cortlandt Court at 9 a.m. Monday.

Rye Brook Woman Charged With DWI Under Leandra's Law After Taconic Crash

State Police say a Rye Brook woman was arrested on December 31 following a one car accident on the Taconic State Parkway in the Town of East Fishkill. 

Troopers say they arrived on the scene to find 37 year old Suji Alexander-Raja of Rye Brook standing outside the vehicle with her 6 year old daughter after she apparently had gone off the roadway and struck a guiderail.

Police say they noticed a strong odor of alcohol on her breath and after she allegedly failed field sobriety tests was found to have a blood alcohol level (BAC) of .32%-four times the legal limit. 

Alexander-Raja was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated under Leandra's Law and unsafe lane change. She was arraigned in the Town of East Fishkill Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail  in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. 

Six Arrested in Holiday DWI Detail in Westchester

State  Police have arrested six people following a DWI sobriety enforcement detail in Westchester County.

Under arrest are:

-62 year old Bodhan Huzar from Ridgefield, CT. He was charged with DWI after a breath sample indicated he had a .14% blood alcohol level. He was released on $250 baill and is due back in the Town of North Castle Court on January 11, 2011.
